1/9/2003 Chuck Christ reports that preparations for his return to the Sebring vintage “12 Hour Weekend“ (Sebring, Florida, March 12-15, in conjunction with the famous “12 Hours of Sebring“ races) are well under way. Lexan door windows are awaiting installation. A new gear box is almost ready to install that has a slightly higher final drive ratio compared to his previous unit. He hopes the change will allow the car to reach higher top speeds on Sebring's long straights compared to what he saw last year. And, some “rocket science, top secret” front suspension bushings are on their way from England -- Chuck has high hopes that with these units, combined with stiffer front springs, he’ll get better roll control in the hard corners at the venue. There is also a new set of tropical hood vents awaiting installation to aide under-hood heat dissipation. As for the yellow 93F of Jon Ewing ... Chuck has efforts are under way to repair a damaged center cylinder piston and replace the front suspension bushings, while waiting for a repaired water temperature gauge to return from the rebuilders, to get this car to Sebring, also. While all this is happening, Chuck is renewing his effort to get his H-modified sports racer "BRAND-X" aligned, and mount a new set of tires, proper door windows, some improved rear view mirrors, and a smaller restrictor plate in the cooling system. The testing he completed at Summit Point in late November of last year yielded some anxious moments, but finally some rewarding track time, with testing of a new cooling system and a few other well-engineered modifications completed. Look for this car to appear later in the vintage racing season, hopefully at the VIR Gold Cup Races.
